SOPHOMORE SPRINT 1-2-3 FOR ONE WORLD

23 November 2024

Drakenstein Stud’s sensational young sire One World dominated proceedings in Saturday’s Listed World Sports Betting Sophomore Sprint (1200m) at Hollywoodbets Kenilworth.

One World runners Lion Rampart, Kaiboy and Miss World finished 1-2-3 in Saturday’s sprint for three-year-olds to give their sire an impressive clean sweep.

Trained, like his sire, by Vaughan Marshall, Lion Rampart was sent off the even money favourite for Saturday’s R250 000 contest and he duly obliged.
Under a positive ride from Richard Fourie, the One World colt was quickly away and went out to make the running.

Lion Rampart never appeared in serious danger of defeat and kept going well to score by three parts of a length.

Bred by Ridgemont Highlands, the speedy Lion Rampart has won four of nine starts including last season’s Listed Somerset 1200.

Lion Rampart, who is out of the Var mare Saltire, was a R150 000 buy from the 2023 National Yearling Sale.

His Met winning sire One World made a sensational start to his stud career when supplying 30 individual two-year-old winners in South Africa last season.

The champion son of Captain Al was the country’s Leading First Season Sire of 2023-2024 and is currently South Africa’s Leading Second Season Sire.
