Drakenstein Stud’s outstanding young sire One World’s progeny dominated the black type races run at Hollywoodbets Kenilworth on Saturday.
Not only did One World sire the first three home in Saturday’s Listed World Sports Betting Sophomore Sprint, but One World sons finished first, second and fourth in the G2 Cape Punters Cup on the same card.
One World’s star son One Stripe picked his third graded win when he ran out a very impressive winner of the Cape Punters Cup on Saturday. Trained, like his sire, by Vaughan Marshall, One Stripe was given a confident ride by Gavin Lerena in the R500 000 feature.
Racing off his front-running stablemate All Out For Six, One Stripe came to the front close home and powered away to win convincingly by a length and three quarters. His paternal half-brothers All Out For Six and Captain West finished second and fourth behind One Stripe to give One World an all-but clean sweep of the Cape Punters Cup.
Bred by Drakenstein Stud, the top-class One Stripe has won four of just six starts and earned R1 193 013 in stakes.
In landing the 2024 Cape Punters Cup, One Stripe emulated his sire, One World, who had won the same race back in 2018.
One Stripe was one of three winners on Saturday for his sensational sire, with One World gelding World Of Pleasure victorious in the RaceCape Powered By Hollywoodbets Class 4 (1400m) at Hollywoodbets Kenilworth and Lion Rampart winning Saturday’s Listed World Sports Betting Sophomore Sprint.
Remarkably, One World came up with yet another impressive winner when his lightly raced son Major Tommie romped home to a more than five length maiden win at Hollywoodbets Scottsville on Sunday.
South Africa’s Leading Second-Season Sire of 2024-2025, One World, has three sons entered for the upcoming G1 Hollywoodbets Cape Guineas, while his daughter World Of Alice is a runner in Saturday’s G3 Betway Fillies Mile.
