Drakenstein Stud’s champion sire Trippi is the broodmare sire of red hot stallion Not This Time.


The latter, a son of Giant’s Causeway and Trippi’s top-class daughter Miss Macy Sue, came up with a pair of stakes winners in North America on Saturday to continue his great run of success.

Not This Time’s three-year-old son Epicenter confirmed his status as a leading contender for the 2022 Kentucky Derby with an off the pace score in Saturday’s G2 Twinspires.com Louisiana Derby.
Epicenter rated in third early under Rosario before he was angled out in the stretch and overhauled pacesetting Zozos. He won by 2 1/2 lengths, racing 1 3/16 miles in a track-record 1:54.38

His win in the Louisiana Derby put Epicenter at the top of the Kentucky Derby leaderboard.
The Louisiana Derby was the third stakes win of the Fair Grounds meet for Epicenter, who won the Gun Runner Stakes Dec. 26 and the Risen Star Stakes Presented by Lamarque Ford (G2) Feb. 19. His only local defeat came in the Lecomte Stakes (G3), when he set a hot pace and was nipped on the wire by Call Me Midnight .

Out of the Candy Ride mare Silent Candy, Epicenter has now won four of six starts for earnings of more than $1 000 000.

Not This Time’s second stakes winner on Saturday came when his three-year-old daughter Last Leaf won the Melody Of Colors Stakes at Gulfstream.

A half-brother to dual G1 winner and successful sire Liam’s Map, Not This Time is North America’s Leading 3rd Crop Sire for 2022.

His broodmare sire Trippi is having another fine season in 2021-2022 with Trippi’s stakes winners headed by repeat G1 L’Ormarins Queen’s Plate winner Jet Dark.
