Drakenstein Stud’s exciting young stallion Futura came up with his first graded stakes winner on Saturday, when his two-year-old son Nourbese,a member of Futura’s first crop, claimed the G2 Durban Golden Horseshoe (1400m) at Hollywoodbets Greyville.
Third in the G2 World Sports Betting SA Nursery earlier in the season, the Ben Botha bred Nourbese showed his class when he powered home to land the Golden Horseshoe in fine style, scoring by half a length under jockey Stuart Randolph.
One of two runners in the Golden Horseshoe for Futura, the Corne Spies trained Nourbese made it back to back wins with his victory in Saturday’s graded feature with Nourbese having romped to a two and a half length win at his previous start.
Nourbese, a R140 000 buy from the 2019 Emperors Palace National 2YO Sale, is out of the unraced Victory Moon mare Golden Pathway.
He is one of six first crop winners for Futura thus far, with the former Horse Of The Year also responsible for Saturday’s G2 Zulu Kingdom Golden Slipper third place getter Jasmine and impressive winners Vihaan’s Pie and Calgary.
A son of four times Equus Outstanding Stallion Dynasty (the sire of 2020 Vodacom Durban July winner Belgarion), Futura has eight yearlings on offer at the upcoming Emperors Palace National Yearling Sale.
