Drakenstein Stud’s evergreen champion sire Trippi is broodmare sire of arguably the hottest stallion in North America at the moment in the form of Not This Time.
The latter, whose dam is Trippi’s high-class daughter Miss Macy Sue, made more headlines in North America when Not This Time’s three-year-old sons Simplification and In Due Time ran first and second in the G2 Fasig-Tipton Fountain of Youth Stakes at Gulfstream Park on Saturday.
Runner up in the G3 Holy Bull Stakes last time out, Simplification circled six-wide around the far turn, avoiding a two-horse spill in the process, and took the lead entering the stretch, kicking away to a 3 1/2-length victory.
“I knew he was going to be tough today,” Jose Ortiz said of the winning colt. “I worked him last week and Antonio had a lot of confidence in him. He broke well. He pulled me into the race. He put me there. At the three-eighths pole, I decided to go wide and follow Emmanuel and he was there for me.”
Trained by Antonio Sano, Simplification, victorious in the Mucho Macho Man Stakes earlier in the year, has now won three of just six starts and is a possible starter in the G1 Florida Derby.
His G3 Iroqouis Stakes winning sire Not This Time (by Giant’s Causeway) had three runners in the 2022 Fountain Of Youth, with another son, Epicenter, victorious in the recent G2 Risen Star Stakes.
A half-brother to another successful stallion in the form of Liam’s Map, Not This Time is currently the Leading Third Crop Sire in North America, by earnings.
