Drakenstein Stud’s much missed Lancaster Bomber underlined what a loss he was to the South African breeding industry when the late War Front stallion came up with his first stakes winner at Hollywoodbets Kenilworth on Saturday.
The Lancasater Bomber filly Rascova, her sire’s first winner, became her sire’s first black type winner when she downed some well bred two-year-olds to win Saturday’s Listed City Of Cape Town Summer Juvenile Stakes (1100m) in fine style.
A winner on debut, the Glen Kotzen trained Rascova made it two wins from three starts with her victory on Saturday.
Under 10 times French champion jockey Christophe Soumillon, Rascova powered away to score by a length and a quarter.
Bred by Cheveley Stud, Rascova is out of the Western Winter mare Netsuke.
Lancaster Bomber has now had four members of his first crop win or finish in the money, and he is currently South Africa’s Leading First Season Sire for 2022-2023.
One of more than 100 stakes winners sired by outstanding stallion War Front, Lancaster Bomber won the 2018 G1 Tattersalls Gold Cup and finished second or third in six other G1 races.
A half-brother to triple G1 winner Excelebration, Lancaster Bomber was a full-brother to 2022 G3 Seagram Cup winner War Bomber.
