TRIPPI SON LIFTS MAIDEN CUP

2 September 2019

Drakenstein Stud’s champion sire Trippi went close to enjoying big race success both as a sire and as a broodmare sire over the past weekend.

His Drakenstein Stud bred son White River confirmed his status as the best horse currently racing in Mauritius on Sunday, when that gelding landed the The Courts Mammoth Maiden Cup at Champ de Mars.
White River, now a winner of his last five starts, was also a high-class performer in South Africa where the gelding ran second in the 2017 G1 Cape Guineas, and G2 Selangor Cup (beating subsequent Horse Of The Year and dual Vodacom Durban July winner Do It Again on both occasions).
Relaxed in midfield, White River cruised away from his opposition for a classy win and while Alshibaa tried his heart out, he had to settle for second.

Trippi, South Africa’s Champion Sire of 2015-2016 , is also enjoying increasing success as a broodmare sire, and his 3 time winning daughter Lucky Trip is responsible for highly promising US two-year-old filly Inspiressa (an $850 000 buy) who ran second in the G1 Del Mar Debutante Stakes at Del Mar on Saturday.

Trippi is also damsire of G1 winners Liam’s Map (now a promising young sire), Gabor and Miss Florida, and graded stakes winners Multiplier, Miss Sunset and Not This Time.

The G1 winner and champion sire enjoyed another big season in 2018-2019, with Trippi’s star performers including G1 Tsogo Sun Sprint winner Chimichuri Run and fellow black type performers On That Boulevard, Spring Break, Tristful, Vandah’s Spirit and G1 Gbets Cape Derby runner up Charles.
