Drakenstein Stud’s red-hot young sire One World has made a sparkling start to his stud career, and the champion son of Captain Al was at it again on Sunday, when his first-crop sons One Stripe and Lion Rampart ran first and second respectively in the G3 Winter Nursery (1100m) at Hollywoodbets Kenilworth.
Both One Stripe and Lion Rampart are trained by Vaughan Marshall, who not only trained One World but also Captain Al himself.
An impressive winner of the R1 000 000 G3 City Of Cape Town Cape Of Good Hope Nursery last time out, One Stripe put up a performance of real class when victorious on Sunday.
Under a supremely confident ride from Gavin Lerena, the One World colt powered home to win going away by a length.
Bred by Drakenstein Stud, One Stripe has now won three of just four starts and he is a top-class two-year-old.
One Stripe, who is out of the Silvano mare Silver Stripe, was the top lot sold off the 2023 Cape Racing Ready To Run & Unbroken 2YO Sale when knocked down for R1 400 000.
The colt is one of 15 winners to have emerged from Equus Champion, and G1 Sun Met winner, One World’s first crop thus far, with this crop also including All Out For Six, an impressive winner at Hollywoodbets Kenilworth on Sunday.
One World is currently both the Leading First Season and Leading Sire of 2YOs in South Africa for 2023-2024.
