Drakenstein Stud’s red-hot young sire One World came up with a tenth first-crop winner on Friday when his two-year-old son Anuschka’s World won at Fairview.
Trained by Gavin Smith, Anuschka’s World showed tremendous courage when landing Friday’s Welcome To Nelson Mandela Bay Maiden Juvenile Plate (1000m).
Under a strong ride from Muzi Yeni, the One World fought out a ding-dong finish with runner-up Havana Grey, with the winner scoring by a head.
An unlucky third last time out, Anuschka’s World was making just his third start on Friday.
Bred by Riverton Stud, Anuschka’s World is out of the Kahal mare Brigtnumberfour.
The colt was an R80 000 purchase from last year’s National Yearling Sale.
South Africa’s Leading First Season Sire of 2023-2024, One World is also South Africa’s Leading Sire of 2YOs for the current season.
The champion son of champion sire Captain Al has an excellent draft on offer at the upcoming National Sale, including a half-brother (Lot 45), to Listed Durbanville Cup winner Thefutureisbright, a filly (Lot 50) whose dam is a winning three-parts sister to five time G1 winner Inara, and a colt (Lot 179) out of a winning half-sister to champion and top-class sire Vercingetorix.
