GRADED STAKES DOUBLE FOR TRIPPI

23 October 2021

Former champion sire Trippi made a big impression at Kenilworth on Saturday, where Trippi’s son Trip Of Fortune claimed the G3 Cape Classic and his three-year-old daughter Amanzimtoti won the same day’s G2 Western Cape Fillies Championship (1400m).

Both sophomores are trained by Candice Bass-Robinson for owner-breeder Drakenstein Stud, with both Trip Of Fortune and Amanzimtoti steered to victory by Aldo Domeyer.

A full-sister to G2 World Sports Betting Guineas winner Wild Coast, the blue blooded Amanzimtoti stormed home from off the pace to claim Saturday’s 1400m feature, and traditional G1 Cape Fillies Guineas prep, by an emphatic two and a quarter lengths.
In the process, Amanzimoti took her tally of wins to three from just five starts, with the Drakenstein Stud bred filly yet to finish out of the top two.

Now a leading contender for the Fillies Guineas, Amanzimtoti is out of five time G1 winner, and dual Equus Champion Beach Beauty.

She is the 84th stakes winner for Trippi -South Africa’s Champion Sire of 2015-2016, and the sire of more than 160 black type performers overall.

Also broodmare sire of Not This Time (currently North America’s Leading Second Crop Sire of 2021), Trippi has two well bred lots on the 2021 CTS Ready To Run Sale. Trip To Mars (Lot 48) is a colt out of G3 Three Troikas Stakes queen Sensible Lover, while Wood Manor, dam of Listed Spook Express Handicap winner Forest Express, has a Trippi filly (Lot 61) on sale.
