Drakenstein Stud’s resident champion sire Trippi looks to have produced a top-class three-year-old in the form of Trip Of Fortune. The latter defied a layoff to make it three wins in a row when victorious over 1400 metres at Durbanville on Saturday.
Under Anthony Andrews, the progressive Trip Of Fortune unleashed a smart turn of foot which saw the Drakenstein Stud bred and owned colt get up in the closing stages to beat last season’s G1 Cape Racing Presents The Cape Guineas winner Russian Rock by a head in Saturday’s Racing Association Graduate Plate over 1400 metres.
Trained by Candice Bass-Robinson, Trip Of Fortune has now won three of his four starts in total, with the colt also victorious in last season’s Listed World Sports Betting Somerset 1200.
Out of the Doowaley mare Louvre, Trip Of Fortune looks on course for an exciting season ahead.
He is one of a number of smart three-year-olds representing Trippi this season, with Trippi also responsible for last season’s Equus Champion 3YO Colt Jet Dark.
South Africa’s Champion Sire of 2015-2016, Trippi has two lots on the upcoming CTS Ready To Run Sale.
