Drakenstein Stud’s promising young sire Futura supplied an eye catching winner at the Vaal on Thursday.
Futura’s newly turned four-year-old son Eliud stamped himself a horse to follow when romping home to a six length win in Thursday’s Racing Association Progress Plate (1600m).
Under a well timed, front running ride from Craig Zackey, the Candice Dawson trained gelding raced well clear of his rivals before staying on to post a commanding six length win.
Bred and owned by Ralphs Racing, Eliud has now won four of just ten starts, with the gelding having won his last two races by an aggregate of nine lengths.
Out of the Captain Al mare Entrechat, Eliud is but one of a number of talented gallopers to have emerged from Horse Of The Year Futura.
Others include the graded stakes winners Nourbese, Vihaan’s Pie and Warrior, as well as Zimbabwean champion Dindingwe.
One of the very best sons of leading sire Dynasty, Futura has three lots on offer at the 2021 CTS Ready To Run Sale.
