Drakenstein Stud’s red hot young stallion One World came up with his 22nd first crop winner when his two-year-old daughter Roccapina won impressively at Hollywoodbets Kenilworth on Tuesday.
In the process, One World equalled the number of individual juvenile winners set by a South African-based first-season sire in a season.
Runner up on her only start before Tuesday, the Candice Bass-Robinson trained Roccapina turned Tuesday’s Hollywoodbets Kenilworth Welcomes You Maiden Juvenile Plate (Fillies) (1000m) into a one-horse race.
Under Aldo Domeyer, the two-year-old stretched clear in the closing stages to win as she liked by five and a half lengths.
Roccapina, who was bred by Varsfontein Stud, is out of the Fort Wood mare Scandola.
Her G1 Sun Met winning sire One World went close to having a double on Tuesday with his daughter Pentolina finishing second in the Cape Turf Club Maiden Juvenile Plate over 1400 metres.
South Africa’s Leading Sire of 2YOs for 2023-2024, One World has three runners in Saturday’s G3 Langerman and another three members of his first crop in Saturday’s Listed Irridescence Stakes.
The former Equus Champion has 12 lots on offer at the upcoming KZN Yearling Sale, which takes place at the Suncoast Casino in Durban on July 4th.
